The solar plexus chakra is the third chakra and represents joy, self-esteem, personal power, and strength. It's associated with the color yellow and the element of fire (and the sun). The Sanskrit name for this chakra is Manipura, meaning "seat of gems."
This chakra defines your self-expression and confidence. Like the sun, it allows us to shine our own personal and unique light out into the world.
The solar plexus chakra is located in the abdomen, above the navel, and physically correlates to the digestive system, skin, blood sugar levels, and moods.
When the solar plexus is underactive, it can show up as low self-esteem, depression, fear, and no ambition. It can also physically cause fatigue, sluggish digestion, and skin conditions.
When it is overactive, it can lead to behavior which is controlling, egotistical, work-obsessed, angry, and anxious.
An out of balance solar plexus may show up as depression, workaholism, or chronic digestive issues.
Someone with a balanced solar plexus is responsible, playful, decisive, and happy. They have healthy boundaries & positive self-esteem. They often experience a strong will and the self-motivation to accomplish anything they set their mind to.
