Heart Chakra → Love & Compassion

Connecting to the Wisdom of Your Heart
The heart chakra, Anahata in Sanskrit, is the fourth chakra and connects to love and compassion. To heal the heart, the first step is forgiveness. Forgiveness is acknowledging that someone has hurt you, and you no longer want to carry that poison around with you. So you let the poison go and let the wound heal by forgiving them (easier said than done). To forgive someone does not mean you need to speak with them ever again or let them back into your life.
Forgiveness leads to gratitude, and gratitude leads to a loving, open, compassionate heart.
The heart chakra is associated with the color green, and is connected with the element of air or breath.
This chakra is, of course, located at the heart and extends to the lungs, breasts, shoulders, arms, and hands. When we hug or shake hands, we are connecting hearts.
When the heart chakra is underactive, you may become numb to your emotions, feel disconnected, or be afraid to love. Those who didn't have loving, affectionate, caretakers as children are more likely to have underactive heart chakras as adults.
When it is overactive, it can result in jealousy emotional outbursts, or having low empathetic boundaries - it can be difficult to distinguish between one's own feelings and someone else's emotions.
When the heart chakra is balanced, one feels loving, empathetic, generous, and forgiving. Kind of like the world's best grandma.
