What is the significance of the sacral chakra?

The sacral chakra is the second chakra and is our emotional center that governs passion, sexuality, pleasure, and desire. The Sanskrit name is Svadhisthana. It's associated with the color orange and the element of water. It manages our ability to fully express ourselves in healthy ways, both sexually and creatively. Think of this chakra when considering your overall enjoyment of life through the senses.

The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, below the navel, near the sacrum. It's physically correlated with the bladder, kidneys, and reporductive organs.

When the sacral chakra is underactive, it can cause a lack of desire, lack of creativity, low libido, sexual related guilt, and attachment issues. It can also physically manifest as low back pain, genital issues, urinary & kidney infections, infertility, and impotence.

But when the sacral chakra is overactive, it can lead to addictions, overindulgence in fantasies, intense mood swings, and an overall dissatisfaction with life.

How can I balance my sacral chakra?
